Schellerhau - State-approved recreational resort

Whether you want to enjoy the mountain air on a long hike, sporty mountainbiking on ... km of trails, walking on the three signposted Nordic walking paths, active vacationers will find plenty of variety and the most beautiful nature sceneries around Schellerhau. Our hiking meeting point "Engel & Bergmann" at the over 425 year old church, which is one of the most beautiful village churches in Saxony, is used as a starting point for the most varied hiking trails. We recommend to visit this small village church,  is open every day and offers visitors wonderful paintings from the 16th century.

 

Schellerhau is known for its many benches, which were set up by the guests in their favorite places around Schellerhau and some of them offer unique panoramic views of the seemingly endless natural meadows. A break in the hotels, restaurants, where you will be served regional cuisine, or in the “Rotter” café, a pastry shop that exists already  for over 100 years, will add variety to your daily program.

 

Schellerhau is a state-recognized recreational  resort, it is the perfect destination for parents who want to spend an eventful holiday with their children in the mountains at any time of the year. Child-friendly accommodations, playground and skater park, the "sound" path in the botanical garden, untouched nature - whether for young or old, there is something for every visitor.  You can put down your impressions and names in one of the many summit guestbooks in the area.

 

We recommend a visit to the Botanical Garden, with a large collection of typical alpine plants. The on-site themed exhibitions, which are prepared with a lot of love and passion, are also interesting.

 

The Gallery & Museum Heimatstuben offer our guests not only year-round exhibitions by artists who have a special relationship with the Ore Mountains region or Schellerhau, but also insights into the former life in the mining village. A visit every Sunday when the Galerie & Museum Heimatstuben is open is a "must" for every guest and you shouldn't miss it.

In winter is Schellerhau a real paradise for cross-country skiing lovers.   40 km of well groomed cross-country trails awaits you. Directly at the entrance to the cross-country ski trails there is a parking lot. Winter hiking trails are prepared and signposted for winter hikers. The winter offer is rounded by the ski, sledge and snowboard rental.
