Surrounded by forests and flowering mountain meadows, embedded by the Spitzberg (750m) and Hofehübel (740m), bordered by the mountain rivers Pöbelbach and Rote Weißeritz, the small spa town of Bärenfels with 340 inhabitants is idilically located.
Bärenfels was probably founded in 1503. The place got its name not from the bear ( in German Bär), but from the owners of the Bärenstein estate to which the area belonged. Due to the quiet location between meadows and forests, those looking for relaxation will find here the peace and rest.
