In the Altenberg recreational area in the Ore Mountains, you can experience a very special Advent and Christmas season. The traditions are more alive here than ever. Numerous candle arches in the windows of the houses make our holiday region a fairytale Christmas land. When the smoker and nutcracker do their job, Christmas romance draws into people's hearts like nowhere else in the world.

Christmas markets, bathed in twinkling lights are creating a spectacle that is beyond splendid. The natives of our region practice Christmas rituals and traditions that have been lovingly preserved for generations. Let’s go on a fascinating journey together to discover what makes Christmas so special and unique in the Ore Mountains – often called the Home of Christmas.

An important part of Christmas time in the Ore Mountains as well are the mountain parades. These parades emhpasize the mining heritage.

No matter how hard you search, it just doesn’t get more Christmassy than in Ore Mountains.
